The Department is responsible for the administration of mining rights and mineral processing licenses as provided for in the Mines and Minerals Act of 2015. The Department is charged with the responsibility of cadastral surveys or cadastral maps, and holds a comprehensive register of the mining rights and all surveyed cadastral maps of the country. The legal systems use the Cadastre to define the dimensions and location of land parcels as described in the Act. The Cadastre department hold a fundamental source of data in disputes and lawsuits between mine owners.
