HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2025 MINING INDABA
… as Dr. Situmbeko calls for strengthened partnerships among stakeholders
It has been a busy week for the Zambian delegation at the ongoing Investing in Africa Mining Indaba in Capetown, South Africa which is characterised by presentations, panel discussions, and side-line meetings with captains of the industry and various stakeholders.
The delegation has also held a series of meetings with Zambian companies, including financial institutions, crucial to fostering investments in Zambia and the emphasis from Dr. Musokotwane has been on the need for all players in the economy to forge partnerships, with an assurance of Government’s support.
Last evening, the Zambia National Commercial Bank (ZANACO) hosted a networking cocktail night that brought together key stakeholders to discuss collaboration and support for the mining sector, a cornerstone for Zambia’s economy.
It was at this event that Dr. Musokotwane emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between financial institutions and mining sector players to drive sustainable economic growth.
The Minister of Finance and National Planning was joined by his Mines and Minerals Development counterpart, Hon. Paul C. Kabuswe, who commended ZANACO for its unwavering support in financing projects aimed at bolstering both the mining sector and the Zambian economy at large.
Hon. Kabuswe highlighted ZANACO’s pivotal role in advancing the country’s economic development, noting its consistent efforts in funding initiatives that underpin the mining industry.
On the other hand, ZANACO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Zambia’s mining industry, recognizing its critical role in driving economic growth and sustainable development.
The event was also attended by Ministry of Mines Permanent Secretary, Dr. Hapenga Kabeta, Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Ms. Inonge Mwenya, ZANACO Board Chairman, Prof. Oliver Saasa, ZANACO Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Mukwandi Chibesakunda, other senior Government officials, and captains of industry.
The networking cocktail served as a platform for fostering connections among Government officials, industry captains, and delegates attending the 2025 Investing in Africa Mining Indaba.
